Pregnancy Counseling

Please let us help you.  You do not have to walk this path alone.

Our pregnancy counselors desire to walk alongside you as you consider next steps on your pregnancy journey.  Your counselor will assist you in exploring the issues surrounding your pregnancy.  She will listen, provide empathy, and pay special attention to every detail of the challenges you are facing.  Specifically, your counselor will explore with you:

  • emotional, environmental, financial, legal, educational, vocational, and housing challenges,
  • the health or unhealth of relationships with your baby’s father, other family members, and close friends,
  • an adoption or parenting plan based upon your decision,
  • and any other circumstance that may affect your pregnancy and decision-making process.

Case Management

Please let us help you.  You do not have to walk this path alone.

Navigating the healthcare system and obtaining quality prenatal care can be extremely challenging. Our pregnancy counselors are excellent case managers and will help you communicate with other agencies and organizations as you seek the very best services for you and your baby.  Some of the areas we can assist you with are:

  • gaining access to proper insurance coverage and prenatal healthcare,
  • gaining access to nutritional assistance, housing and transportation,
  • exploring educational and career opportunities,
  • gaining access to financial assistance,
  • advocating for your physical, emotional and spiritual needs to be met,
  • gaining access to other services as necessary (such as dental care, domestic violence services, mental health care, substance abuse counseling, pediatric care, and childcare,) and
  • providing you with helpful information and educational resources.

Additionally, your pregnancy counselor will coordinate legal and social services on your behalf, and in general, will do everything in her power to connect you with whatever resources might be necessary for a healthy pregnancy.

Parenting Preparation

Please let us help you.  You do not have to walk this path alone.

If you decide that you would like to parent your child, your pregnancy counselor can help you navigate the path ahead.  This may include:

  • deciding what role the birth father will play in your life and the child’s life,
  • preparing for child birth,
  • navigating paternity questions and issues,
  • figuring out what costs are involved in raising a child and how to cover those costs,
  • creating a budget and financial plan for the present and the future,
  • securing living arrangements,
  • establishing your own personal goals,
  • navigating feelings surrounding the many changes you are experiencing, and
  • providing you with information about parenting and child development.

Your pregnancy counselor can also help you access individual and/or family counseling services in order to prepare you in a deeper way for what is to come.

Adoption Planning

Please let us help you.  You do not have to walk this path alone.

If you decide that adoption is the best option for you and the baby, your pregnancy counselor will guide you through the adoption process.  Our desire is that you feel at peace during this time of decision-making and transition.  Some of the areas of discussion between you and your counselor may be:

  • the types of adoption that are available to you,
  • open versus closed adoptions,
  • your legal rights,
  • possible financial assistance,
  • the grief and loss related to placing your child for adoption,
  • choosing an adoptive family who would be best suited for you and the baby, and
  • planning for your future.

Your pregnancy counselor will be there with you every step of the way.

Birth Planning And Support

Please let us help you.  You do not have to walk this path alone.

Regardless of your choice to parent or plan for adoption, your pregnancy counselor can assist you in formulating a hospital and birthing plan. While completing a birth plan with your pregnancy counselor you will discuss topics such as who you want to be present at the hospital and/or in the delivery room while giving birth, who will cut the umbilical cord, bottle feeding versus breast feeding, and many other details you may have never pondered before.  We want to provide you with great care and support throughout your pregnancy process and during the delivery of your baby!

Aftercare

Please let us help you.  You do not have to walk this path alone.

Ongoing counseling, case management, and support services are offered to you and your family for three to six months after your child is born.  We also encourage you to reach out to us at anytime in the future should you need resources related to your pregnancy and post-pregnancy journey.  We will connect you with a support group in your area in addition to other resources and services as necessary.  This is such an important part of your life’s journey, and we want to stay as connected to you as possible even after pregnancy has ended.
